At a glance
Ships the right size on the chart. Zoomed in over a harbour, AIS vessels shrink toward their real length, and big ships grow to theirs.
Crowded traffic makes room in Live. Where AIS vessels would pile up, Live draws them smaller and lets the less important ones step aside — never the vessel you tapped, a ship on a close-quarters course with you, or an AIS-SART.
Live races, cleaner and livelier. Racing yachts show in Live too, without the halo discs around every boat; the race row along the top stays on screen, reorders itself as positions change and tells you who took the lead or climbed; tap a yacht to see its track coloured by speed.
Race divisions in one tap. Filter a race to a single division or see every division's leader at once; places shown are within the division.
The race board, rebuilt. Status line, a hero with the leader's finish ETA and current leg, standings that switch between line honours and corrected time for any class, VMG, 24 h run and ETA columns, a live race news feed (lead changes, mark roundings, finishes, records), a course strip that counts roundings mark by mark, and an about-the-race card.
The course on the chart. The official course line, named marks, gates and exclusion zones draw while a race is open; tap a mark to fly there. Tracks and chips carry each yacht's team colour, and a dotted line shows the next hour ahead of the yacht you picked.
One race strip, not three rows. A single band under the GPS HUD holds the fleet count, the chips and the filter; it collapses to a pill for the yacht you select.
One hull per yacht. A racing yacht that also broadcasts AIS no longer appears twice: the AIS contact folds into the race hull, which jumps to the fresher fix.
Split times at every mark. Tap a mark, a gate or the course line to see who rounded it first, the fastest leg, the top speed on the leg, every yacht through in order and who is still to come with an ETA. In Live, follow a yacht with a chase, orbit or overhead camera.
The race in Live. Racing yachts, the official course, gates and exclusion zones now draw on the 3D water; tap a yacht to frame it with its speed-coloured track and a compare plate, long-press others to compare up to six; nameplates thin out as you zoom out so the fleet stays readable, and zooming right in keeps the yacht in view.
Track a vessel. The vessel card's Pin became Track: the camera follows that vessel on the flat chart and in Live until you move the map. A racing yacht's card opens at half height so the chart stays visible.
Live water placed right. The sea in Live reaches the horizon with no edge and never covers land.
Wind, speed and place on every yacht. Racing yachts on the flat chart now read like Live: place and name, then speed and distance to finish. The yacht you pick carries a plate with the true wind, its angle to it and whether it is close-hauled, reaching or running, plus a wind arrow with the gust when it matters, identical on both charts.
Race hulls you can see. A Race hull size setting in Live (×1 to ×5) enlarges racing yachts only; at night they carry navigation lights and stay readable.
Split times on every mark. Tap a gate, the course line or a mark on either chart to see who has rounded it, when, the fastest leg and the top speed on that leg, and who is still to come with their ETA.
A camera that films the race. Track a yacht in Live and the camera chases it from astern, orbits it or looks down from above, easing between positions so no yacht ever jumps; pinch to change the distance and keep tracking.
Fixes
Ships shown through the AnchorQueen relay no longer all vanish and reappear at once, and keep their type and size between updates.
Lights no longer tint the whole chart where they stand close together, as on the Bosphorus: only sector lights draw coloured sectors; all-round lights keep their light symbol.
Opening a planned route shows the chart in Route mode with the route's details beside it.
Captain's Notebook draws on the paper chart.
Live keeps the chart style you picked when you change settings in quick succession, and redraws once instead of several times.
A chart's Store sheet names its real depth source — EMODnet, GMRT, AusBathyTopo or swissBATHY3D — instead of GEBCO for every region without official charts.
Jules's memory notice waits its turn. The "Jules forgot the earlier part of this chat" banner now appears only for Free captains who are close to their daily allowance, instead of interrupting a conversation early.
Passages the chart estimates from the depth model, where no official chart covers the coast, are now a thin grey dotted line without a depth number, so they no longer look like charted magenta approach routes. See Channels and estimated passages.
