Getting started

What to do in your first five minutes with AnchorQueen.

1. Splash screen

When you open the app you see the splash for a few seconds while the chart

and services warm up.

Once it clears, you land on the SeaTracker chart in

Discover sub-mode.

2. Grant the permissions

Three permissions matter. Grant them all — the anchor watch needs them to

keep you safe.

Location — Always. The anchor alarm runs while the screen is off and

the app is in the background, so it needs background GPS and the right to

relaunch on its geofence. While Using is not enough — the alarm goes

silent the moment you leave the app. If iOS first asks for "While Using,"

allow that, then change to Always when asked again. (See

Notifications. So the drift alarm and weather alerts can reach you.

Background App Refresh. So monitoring keeps running between uses.

If you missed a prompt, Settings shows what is missing and

takes you to the iOS Settings page to fix it.

> A fourth Critical Alerts permission — for alarms that sound even on

Silent / Focus — is planned for a later release. It is not live yet.

3. Clear the first-run prompts

On a fresh install the free tier shows ads, so right after the permission

prompts you will see two more dialogs:

An ad-consent sheet — privacy choices for ad personalisation (shown

where your region requires it). You can change this later under

Settings.

Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — "Allow AnchorQueen to track

your activity…" Your choice here is yours; the app works either way.

A PRO subscription removes ads and both prompts.

4. Install a chart region

AnchorQueen is offline-first — charts come from regions you download, not

from a live connection. Do this on Wi-Fi before you cast off.

Open the Store.

Go to Charts — regions and download the

region(s) covering your cruising area.

The Free for You section gives every account a

few region slots at no charge.

The fastest way there: tap the pulsing Charts button (map icon) in the

chart's right-edge column — it suggests the chart for the area you are

viewing and for your GPS position, starting with the free worldwide base map

on a fresh install. See

Without a downloaded region the chart falls back to a low-detail base map and

will not show soundings offline — see

Browsing charts works signed-out, but a free Captain account unlocks

vessel sync, the Document Vault, signing

community marks, and managing your subscriptions

across devices.

Open the Captain tab and Create account (or Sign in

with Apple / Google where available).

6. Take the tour

The app teaches itself as you go — look for two cues:

Pulsing dots on map controls and menu items mark features you have not

used yet. Tap one and a short tooltip bubble explains what it does, then

the dot clears.

The Command Palette is a built-in feature tour. Open it from the

Search (magnifier) button, switch to the Features tab, and leave the

box empty — it lists every hinted feature so you can jump straight to one.

7. Set your first anchor

Drop your physical anchor and let the boat settle.

Switch to the SafeAnchor tab.

Tap Drop Anchor to place the anchor pin at your boat's position.

Set the alarm radius to your rode length plus a margin for GPS drift.

Arm the alarm.
