The Zadar region is the gateway to the Kornati — one of the most distinctive cruising grounds in the Adriatic. The main bases are Sukošan, home to one of Croatia's largest marinas, Biograd na Moru and Zadar itself, all within easy reach of Zadar airport.

From here the sheltered Pašman channel and the islands of Ugljan, Pašman and Dugi Otok are an easy first day. The Kornati National Park and the Telašćica nature park on Dugi Otok lie a few hours to the south-west: bare limestone islands, clear water and simple konobas in the coves. Park entry is paid, and it is cheaper bought in advance than on the water.

The fleet leans towards sailing yachts, with a solid motorboat fleet for island day trips. Compared with the Split region the waters are more protected and the harbours less crowded, which suits families and crews who want quieter anchorages.
