Sukošan is essentially one very large marina: D-Marin Marina Dalmacija, on the coast just south of Zadar, holds almost the whole fleet, with a small number of boats on the village pier. It is one of the biggest charter marinas in Croatia, and Zadar's old town and airport are both a short drive away.
Most boats are sailing yachts, with a good choice of catamarans and motor yachts. Where Biograd looks south to the Kornati, Sukošan is the natural base for the northern Zadar archipelago: Ugljan and Pašman across the channel, then Iž, Molat, Ist, Silba, Olib and Premuda further out — small car-free or near car-free islands with village harbours and quiet anchorages.
A northern week might run up the Zadar channel to Ugljan, out to Molat and Silba, and back via Iž and the Pašman channel, with Dugi Otok and Telašćica an option on the way home. The inner channels are sheltered from the open sea, but the bura blows down from the Velebit mountains on the mainland side, so watch the forecast before leaving the lee of the islands.
