Fethiye is a lively market town on a wide, sheltered bay at the eastern end of the Muğla coast, with the rock-cut Lycian tombs above the harbour. Charter boats are spread along the waterfront — Ece Marina holds the largest fleet, with more at the town port, the Kordon pier and several smaller hotel and club marinas. Dalaman airport is the nearest.
The fleet is one of the most mixed on the coast: sailing yachts lead, but gulets, catamarans and motor yachts are all well represented. That makes Fethiye a good base for groups deciding between a crewed blue cruise and sailing themselves.
Where Göcek looks inward to the islands of its own gulf, Fethiye faces two ways. North-west, the bays of the Fethiye and Göcek gulfs are a short sail away. South, beyond Cold Water Bay, lie Ölüdeniz, Butterfly Valley and Gemiler Island with its Byzantine ruins, and further east the open Lycian coast leads towards Kaş and Kekova — a longer passage that rewards an experienced crew or a gulet with time to spare.

What is the difference between Fethiye and Göcek as a base?
Göcek is a small yachting village inside the most sheltered part of the gulf. Fethiye is a larger town with shops and restaurants, and it gives easier access south to Ölüdeniz, Gemiler Island and the Lycian coast.
Can I sail from Fethiye to Kaş and Kekova?
Yes, but it is a longer passage along an open coast. It suits a two-week charter, a one-way route or a crewed gulet better than a first bareboat week.
