The course

  • About 600 nm from Antigua around a series of islands to the north and south, including St Barth, St Maarten and Guadeloupe, and back to Antigua. Check the notice of race for the exact course.

Where to watch

  • Shirley Heights and the cliffs by Fort Charlotte overlook the start off English Harbour.
  • Spectator boats should stay well clear of the start line and follow the race committee’s instructions.

What to expect

  • A course that keeps the fleet among islands, with constant sail changes rather than days of open ocean.
  • Trade-wind sailing in warm water, attracting maxis, multihulls and amateur crews alike.
  • A start close to the cliffs off English Harbour, easy to watch from land.

Plan your visit

  • The organiser, the Royal Ocean Racing Club, lists the start for Monday 22 February 2027, off Fort Charlotte.
  • Finishers return to Antigua over the following days. The organiser runs a live tracker.
  • Checked October 2026; confirm before you go.

Sailing nearby: Green Island and Nonsuch Bay

On Antigua’s east coast, Green Island and Nonsuch Bay are reef-protected anchorages about 10 nm from English Harbour; enter in good light and watch the reefs.

Antigua’s south coast has several anchorages within a short sail. Checked October 2026.
