Fleet snapshot of September 28, 2026. Prices and availability change daily — the live list below is current.
The United Kingdom offers two quite different kinds of charter. Most of the fleet is inland: canal boats and cruisers on the rivers, canals and lochs, where the pace is set by locks and the scenery changes every hour. A smaller fleet of sailing yachts is based on the south coast, in busy, tidal sailing waters.
Port Hamble Marina near Southampton is the main sailing base, opening onto the Solent, the Isle of Wight and the harbours of the south coast. Inland, Laggan Locks near Spean Bridge sits on the Caledonian Canal, which links the lochs of the Great Glen, including Loch Ness. Bellanaleck in County Fermanagh gives access to Lough Erne, Bradford on Avon sits on the Kennet and Avon Canal, Braunston is at the junction of major Midlands canals, and Chertsey is on the River Thames.
Inland boating runs from about March to October. For sailing, May to September is the main season. In the Solent the tidal streams are strong, and planning passages around them is part of every day's sailing; westerly winds dominate and conditions can change quickly.

Questions about chartering here
Do I need a licence for a canal boat or a sailing yacht?
Inland cruisers are typically hired after a handling briefing from the base. A bareboat sailing yacht needs a recognised sailing licence and a VHF radio certificate on board; if nobody holds them, consider a skippered charter.
Which inland area should I choose?
The Caledonian Canal and Lough Erne offer big open water and wild scenery; the Kennet and Avon, the Midlands canals and the Thames offer a slower pace past villages, pubs and locks.
Is the Solent suitable for a first bareboat charter?
It suits crews with some tidal experience. The strong tidal streams and heavy traffic around Southampton demand careful planning, so less experienced crews often start with a skipper for the first days.
How many charter boats are available in United Kingdom?
161 boats are based in United Kingdom in our latest fleet snapshot, from operators including Le Boat, Poole Yacht Charter, Hamble Point Charter.
How much does a yacht charter in United Kingdom cost?
Nightly prices start at €102 for a boat with cabins; a typical boat here costs about €308 a night, roughly €2,156 for a Saturday-to-Saturday week. July and August cost more, and skipper, fuel and extras are usually on top.
Which boat types can I charter in United Kingdom?
The fleet here includes: Houseboat (109), Sailing yacht (39).
