Fleet snapshot of September 28, 2026. Prices and availability change daily — the live list below is current.
Tanzania's charter fleet is based on Zanzibar, off the East African coast in the Indian Ocean. The island combines the historic port of Stone Town with a coastline of white-sand beaches, sandbanks and coral reefs, and nearby spots such as Mnemba Atoll are known for snorkelling, diving and dolphins. The small fleet is mostly catamarans, often chartered with a skipper.
Boats are based around Zanzibar City, including the marina at Azam watersports. Day trips to sandbanks and small islands off Stone Town are the most common outing; longer cruises can head north along the coast of Unguja, the main island, or across to Pemba island further north for more experienced crews. Tidal ranges are large here, so anchorages and reef approaches need to be planned with the tide.
The sailing seasons follow the monsoons: the north-east kaskazi, roughly December to March, is warm with lighter winds, and the south-east kusi, roughly June to October, is cooler and blows more strongly. The long rains fall around April and May, when many boats pause.
