Fleet snapshot of September 28, 2026. Prices and availability change daily — the live list below is current.

New Zealand's charter fleet listed here is small, a mix of sailing yachts, catamarans and a few motor boats from local operators, many of them older cruising boats. It is a country with a strong sailing culture, and its cruising grounds are varied and often dramatic.

The best-known areas are the Bay of Islands in Northland, a sheltered bay of about 140 islands with many anchorages, the Hauraki Gulf off Auckland with Waiheke, Great Barrier and the other gulf islands, and the Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island, a maze of drowned valleys with calm water and forested shores. Check the listed base on each boat, since the fleet is spread thinly.

The season follows the southern-hemisphere summer, from about December to March, with the settled weeks often in February and March. Weather is changeable in any season and fronts can move through quickly, so a flexible plan and a close eye on the marine forecast matter more here than in the tropics.
