Fleet snapshot of September 28, 2026. Prices and availability change daily — the live list below is current.
French Polynesia is one of the great bucket-list charter areas: high volcanic islands ringed by coral reefs and turquoise lagoons in the middle of the South Pacific. Chartering here is centred on the Society Islands, and the fleet is almost entirely catamarans, which suit the lagoon anchorages and the long reaches between islands.
Most charters start on Raiatea, from Uturoa or Apooiti Marina. Raiatea and Taha'a share a single lagoon, so the first days can be spent in flat water, before open-water passages to Huahine to the east and Bora Bora to the west, each a day's sail. A smaller fleet is based at Papeete on Tahiti, the international arrival point, for cruising to Moorea.
The drier season runs from about May to October, with south-easterly trade winds that can blow strongly for days at a time. November to April is warmer, wetter and more humid, with lighter and more variable winds and a cyclone risk. Passes through the reef need care with the tide and swell, and lagoon navigation relies on the channel markers and good light.
