Fleet snapshot of September 28, 2026. Prices and availability change daily — the live list below is current.
Finland has a small, mixed charter fleet of houseboats, sailing yachts and motor yachts, split between the coast and the lakes. On the coast, boats explore the archipelago around Helsinki; inland, houseboats cruise Finnish Lakeland, a vast network of forest lakes that is one of the country's defining landscapes.
Helsinki is the coastal base, with most of the fleet. From the capital the Gulf of Finland archipelago opens to the east and west, with small islands, sheltered passages and guest harbours within a short sail; further west the archipelago continues towards Turku and Åland for longer trips. Heinola, in the Päijät-Häme region, is the base for houseboats on the lakes of southern Finnish Lakeland, where quiet water, forest shores and lakeside saunas set the pace.
The season is short and bright, running mainly from June to August, with almost endless daylight around midsummer. There is very little tide, and summer winds are usually moderate. The archipelago is rocky, so careful chart work and marked channels are essential, and on the lakes the main planning points are channels and distances between harbours.

Questions about chartering here
When is the best time to charter in Finland?
June to August. Midsummer gives the longest days, July the warmest water, and late August quieter harbours. Outside this window many services close.
Coast or lakes?
Choose Helsinki for cruising among the islands of the Gulf of Finland, and Heinola for a slower houseboat trip on the lakes.
Do I need a licence?
For a bareboat sailing yacht the skipper should hold a recognised sailing licence. Requirements for houseboats depend on the boat; the operator will confirm what applies and give a briefing before departure.
How many charter boats are available in Finland?
32 boats are based in Finland in our latest fleet snapshot, from operators including HouseBoat.fi, Mika, Fair Seas Oy.
How much does a yacht charter in Finland cost?
Nightly prices start at €357 for a boat with cabins; a typical boat here costs about €562 a night, roughly €3,934 for a Saturday-to-Saturday week. July and August cost more, and skipper, fuel and extras are usually on top.
